Okay, so who is Carlos? 🫣
Hello there! Salutations from my desk.
I’m Carlos, a 27 Product Designer working in SW London with a background in the manufacturing, hospitality and publishing industries and a diploma from a UX Design Bootcamp.
I have lived in 4 different countries and speak 3 different languages (guess which one is the third), have a tendency to laugh at all times even if it is inappropriate and love to talk about movies and music. I also eat a lot!
My many hobbies include baking (I make a mean red velvet), playing The Sims and League of Legends until my PC crashes (poor thing is old), randomly deciding to rewatch entire movie sagas when I should probably be asleep and ordering desserts at 11:59 pm.
Why Product Design tho? 🧐
The reason why I decided to embark on this digital design journey is that I realized that UX is a field that encompasses many of the fields I have been interested in before, such as psychology and art, and that I could combine them into something that can make a positive impact in people’s lives while being able to play with shapes, colours and composition, making art.
On a more personal level, I always strived to work in a progressive work environment where people can be their true authentic selves and grow as people and develop professionally. After finding the UX designer’s communities, I believe this is one of the best places to be. Surrounded by creative professionals who care about people.
What is he doing now? 🤓
I’m glad you asked! Well, currently I’m working as the sole UX/UI Designer for Clarion Events, across both Gaming and Defence portfolios and I’m also doing freelance design on the side as we live in tough times and I want to go on as many holidays as possible.
Here I lead design and research for our publishing sites and apps, and get to work on cool projects that not only aim to improve digital experiences for all of our users, but also help bridge the gap between those digital experiences and physical ones through our various events, creating one joined-up experience across screens, spaces, and everything in between. For this, I’ve had to step up skills such as user journeys, design systems, and prototyping, with the help of AI workflows to not just stay on top of tasks but go beyond and deliver solutions that make complex problems feel surprisingly simple, while looking fab!
And just before this role, I was the sole UX/UI Designer at another massive company (a recurring theme, as you can already tell). This one was none other than Hearst UK, where I looked after 16 iconic brands, working with a small but mighty team in Leicester Square and conjuring up projects that positively redefined how millions of users engaged with our brands online.
Oh, what do I like? 😍
Below you can see some of my favourite music albums, movies, series, videogames and drawings I drew :p
